The Music section of The Bishop Collection is an exciting and cohesive compilation of 1333 items (2023-10-31) predominantly related to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Year range: 1940 - 2019.
These range from: autographed vinyls, vinyl and cd covers, photos, cds, cards, postcards, posters, contracts, sheet music, autographs, Hall of Fame induction and tour programmes, an assortment of various objects, and stamps,. As noted above the majority of these items have been signed by the artist/artists with a few exceptions, making them extremely rare as many of these artists have since died. The Collection also includes an exclusive selection of Apple Records.
The Collection represents 481 musicians.
The Bishop Collection contains a cohesive selection of artists representing the famous ’27 Club’, talented artists who died at or before the age of 27, for example; Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Brian Jones, Amy Winehouse, and Jimi Hendrix.
More deceased artists of note represented in the Bishop Collection are: Roy Orbison, Elvis Presely, Michael Jackson, Tom Petty, Prince, Hank Williams, Ricky Nelson, Ronnie Van Zant, Duane Allman, Michael Hutchence, Whitney Houston and Nina Simone amongst others.
The Bishop Collection includes various signed items from famous and iconic artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, The Bee Gees, and The Monkees. It also includes items from artists who were the foundation of Rock and Roll or Early Influences such as Chubby Checker, Muddy Waters, Ink Spots, Willie Dixon, Etta James and Louis Armstrong.
An interesting category of the HOF inductions is that of the Non-performer. Within the Bishop Collection these are represented by such names as Ahmet Ertegun, Allen Toussaint, Dick Clarke, George Martin and Phil Spector amongst others.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame commenced in 1986 in Cleveland USA. Inductees are nominated each year in one of the following categories: • Performers • Early Influences • Ahmet Ertegun Award • Award for Musical Excellence • Sideman • Non-performers.
